** Cue the Olympic Theme **
The Olympics have come to El Dorado Springs!!! The Beginning Band and the Intermediate Band classes have been participating in their own form of the Olympic Games. The students started with making their flags to represent their Section. In the Beginning Band, we have six countries: Flutopia, Reedlandia, Trumpetonia, Brassil, United Section of Trombonia, and Percussia. In the Intermediate Band class we have: Woodlandia, Trumpetonia, and Percussia. The Band Olympics kicked off with their "Opening Ceremonies" where the different sections got up and explained what was on their flags and the symbolism behind their selections. It is always fun to see the students creative in ways other than just in their musicianship. The students will participate in games and represent both themselves and their section. The first game took place on Friday, February 23. The students played a game of "Ice Dancing." The game was actually, Staff Twister, but "Ice Dancing" went with the theme. The students had a blast, as evident by the pictures, and were very supportive of each other and their section mates. The next event, that took place on Monday, February 26, was "Speed Skating." The students were to play a line out of their book as fast AND clean as they could. We had many great times being laid down by the kids, as well as, some clean runs. I think the students are having a blast with this project and pictures will be shared daily on the Bulldog Band's Facebook Page! Earning for a gold is not bad. It is like aiming for the success. Success is found if the team is working for each other's success. I believed that success is achieved if there is team work and if we had faith in God. For me, the most powerful person every battle is our faith in God, if we kept on praying and did a great job from the preparation until the event, it will be granted. But what is important is the lessons we learned, I think that is better than having a good.
