​As the parade was wrapping up, the Bulldog Band got to enjoy a quick lunch and then had to start getting prepared for the afternoon's performance in the Field Competition.  Senior Drum Major, Caleb Alexander, went to the field for the parade awards, while the band members went to the warm-up location.  After a quick marching warm-up and playing warm-up the band was ready to compete.  The students, with the exception of Caleb, didn't have any idea the results of the parade and they wouldn't know until after our performance.

The Bulldog Band took the field, which felt like a wind tunnel.  The Band left everything they had on the field with hopes of getting to do it all again in a Finals Competition.  When the Band got back to the bus, they were told about their FIRST PLACE Finish in the Class 3 in the Parade.  It was found out later, that our band placed 4th Place overall in the parade, following: 3rd Place - Carl Junction HS, 2nd Place - Adina HS (Minnesota), and 1st Place - Lebanon HS.

After the other awards were handed out for the rest of the classes, the directors had a meeting to decide on how they wanted to handle the incoming intense storms.  It was decided that we would not have a Finals Competition due to the weather, and the scoring from Prelims would determine the final order of the bands.  So, the Finals Awards went as such.

Overall, it was a very exciting day and we got back home before weather became an issue, so it was WINS all the way around.  I am proud to also add, that in our Preliminary Performance we beat 11 other High School Bands!  Five (Hillcrest, Seneca, Sarcoxie, Diamond, and Forsyth) were from Class A, four (Ava, Reeds Springs, Bolivar, and Mt. Vernon) from Class B; two (Joplin and Staley) from Class C, and one (Hutchinson, KS) from Class D!

I would say it was a GREAT Day to be a Bulldog!

​On Saturday, October 14, the Bulldog Band traveled to Pittsburg, KS to participate in the University’s Homecoming Parade. After a GREAT football game the night before, 6:15 came really early the next morning! The kids got a pretty good nap in, on the way to the parade, though!

The Band competed in the “Gold Class” with nine other band programs from Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas.  The parade was a little on the warm side, however, we did have a comfortable breeze from the south!

After the parade, we traveled to PSU’s football stadium and enjoyed watching the Pride of the Plains Marching Band do a rehearsal and announce the winners from the parade.  The Bulldog Band received 1st Place in our class, beating, 2nd Place - Southeast HS (KS), & 3rd Place - Commerce HS (OK).

Many compliments were heard from the crowd as we marched down Broadway! I am very proud of our Bulldog Band and very appreciative of the wonderful comments and positive vibes being sent to our program!

We have two more competitions left (Maple Leaf Parade - 9:00 AM @ Carthage, MO & Maple Leaf Field Competition - 1:00 PM @ Carthage HS) and a PLAYOFF FOOTBALL game this week! We would love to see you come out and cheer on our Bulldogs on Friday night and see our show!

The Bulldog Band competed at the Mt'neer Marching Festival in Mt. Vernon on Tuesday night, and brought home 2nd Place in Class 3!  The Bulldog Band competed against Seneca, Hollister, and Buffalo.  Immediately after their performance, the band was given a clinic let by Becky Long.

Becky Long, former Assistant Director of Webb City, had many positive comments about the band's look, sound, and the overall show.  She also provided the band with some tools to improve their marching and several ideas on how to help with breath control.

The Bulldog Band has put many countless hours and we are looking forward to our upcoming schedule!  Below are the times and dates of remaining performances for the band, and we hope you can catch us at one or all the events!

The El Dorado Springs Bulldog Band started their 2017 Competition Season at the 57th Annual Black Walnut Festival Parade in Stockton, Mo. on Saturday, September 30, 2017.  The Bulldog Band was placed in the Class 3 division of the parade, competing against Strafford High School.  The Bulldog Band performed their 2017 Closer "James Bond Theme" in the parade.  The Bulldog Band brought home the 1st Place trophy for the Class 3 Division. 

The Bulldog Band's next competition is set for Tuesday, October 10 at the Mountaineer Marching Festival in Mt. Vernon, Mo.  The band will perform at 4:40 P.M.  We invite everyone to come out to support the Bulldog Band in Mt. Vernon!
