Roberts Advances to Audition for Missouri All-State Band

The Bulldog Band had three students audition for the SWMMEA District Honor Band Auditions in Mt. Vernon on November 7, 2017.  Caleb Alexander, Ethan Roberts, and Alexis Barnett, audition for membership in the District Honor Band.  At the end of the night, only one of our students made the ensemble.  Ethan Roberts was selected for 6th Chair Trumpet.  We are very proud of Caleb and Alexis for overcoming, what they said were, rough auditions.  It takes some real guts to go be evaluated like this.  There was some tough competition this year.

With this selection, Ethan is eligible to audition for the Missouri All-State Band ensemble on December 2.  Congratulations Ethan and good luck as you prepare for State!

UPDATE:
Caleb Alexander and Alexis Barnett were nominated and selected for the SWMMEA Conference Honor Band!  These selections were made based on a nomination from Mr. White.

Ethan Roberts and Mr. White traveled to Columbia, MO on Saturday, December 2.  We left at 5:00 A.M. and returned home around 6:00 P.M.  There were roughly 120 trumpets auditioning for 11 seats in the All-State Band.  Ethan had a great audition, but did not receive a call back for a second audition.  The day was still full of many laughs and adventures.

The above mentioned students can be seen in their District Honor Band and Conference Honor Band performances at Joplin High School on January 6 at 4:30 P.M.  It is always promised to be a great concert!
